I come from a land where hot and spicy food is an everyday must. The food is made in a healthy and zesty blend of tastes to please the family and friends. Although I don’t make the usual Sri Lankan vegetable and curry so often as I used to, I still like to be adventures with other cuisines. And what other than Asian food to start with!
INGREDIENTS.
500 g noodles.
100 g chicken cut into pieces.
1/2 tomato.
1 clove garlic. Chopped.
1 clove garlic. Crushed.
2 tbsp soya sauce.
2 tbsp chilli paste.
2 tbsp soya sauce.
2 cups of water.
Oil.
Salt to taste.
Tips, Try using other kinds of meat. I used sausages and it tasted just as good!
I really enjoyed cooking this and hope you would too!
Have you ever felt as if you would never be able to be at peace with your past? That horrible sense of sobering weight on your heart which somehow manages to bring you down even when you are at your merriest? Years go by…but the hurt and anger still lingers. You are placed in the core of that anger and hurt that it seems hardly possible to get out of it.
Well I did. It wasn’t easy. But I did it. Here is why I finally let go..
1. It was not worth it. I mean it wasn’t doing me any good. That was for sure. I couldn’t bear to hear about anyone who was even remotely connected to my past.
2. I thought of the once upon a time good times that we used to have and found myself smiling at times. Yes…one cannot forget the good times.
3. It was affecting the people around me. They saw it in me and it was not good!
4. I wanted to be happy and the sadness was not helping.
5. I was wary of everyone. It seemed like they were all connected in some way and plotting to strike again.
6. I didn’t want no bitterness inside me. It was so strong sometimes, I feared that the whole world was able to see it.
7. Life is too very precious and beautiful to dwell in regrets. I didn’t want to spend my life ranting!
8. If it wasn’t for my past I wouldn’t be where I’m today. I felt myself healing in all that pent up hatred. So I decided to let go and live life as a friend, a companion, a guardian, a wife and a mother.
I’m looking forward to my 35th birthday. Time sure does have a way of creeping upon you slowly and steadily doesn’t it? Come July 29th and it should be my second birthday celebration in Sweden.
Back in Sri Lanka this would mean a big party with the whole family, lots of food, dancing and laughter. I love having a good old family get together. Here in Sweden my birthday shall be a quiet affair. That’s the way I like it now. Adapting to the ways of this country has not been the end of the world to me as I have thoroughly enjoyed myself turning into a better me! A quiet lunch with my husband and daughter is what brings the happy out in me!
You know..one should always be happy. We are given just one life by the almighty so why waste it by wallowing in sadness and self pity. Our time in this world is limited. One should never EVER live their lives with regrets no matter how hard life turns out to be. To have the kind of life you want…to be loved and cared for..to have a life full of love and happiness, depends solely on YOUR will. So ‘WILL’ yourself to be happy. Once you start working on it, you will realise that It’s not so hard to find happiness. Happiness is all around you if you open yourself to it💖
I trust that you will find happiness in all you do. Would love to get some feedback and your thoughts on happiness!
I love a good recipe that takes as little time as possible to put together for the family for tea. A soft and fluffy sponge cake is just right and priceless! Not only is it quick and simple..It is also delicious with a cold glass of milk!
INGREDIENTS
Serves 8- 10
175 g soft margarine.
115 g caster sugar.
175 self raising flour. Sifted.
3 eggs. Beaten.
Little milk (optional )
150 ml whipping cream. ( below )
1-2 tbsp strawberry jam. You may use any kind of jam to suit your taste.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Lightly grease two 18 cm cake tins.
Tip,
If you prefer a chocolate sponge you can add 3 tbsp of sifted cocoa to the flour and egg batter.
Done! Hope you’ll find this little sponge to your liking. Do give your feedback if you try this at home!
Now don’t get me wrong. I can keep a house, do the dishes, the ironing and cook a decent meal. But I have never been so handy when it came to the ”real” cooking. The fact is, as much as I enjoy eating…I have never actually enjoyed cooking. I felt I never had the skills nor the patience for it. When I cook, the kitchen ends up as a disaster zone or better still..a crime scene! But lately I have been influenced by a lot of people in the cooking field to well… at least give it a go. What could go wrong? The least I could end up is with a burnt cake or a dry chicken right? I mean one can’t just NOT try something new right? So armed with the proper forensics tools I’ve decided to enter the crime scene…Please bear with me 🙂
1. I love food and i’m a ravenous eater. When someone astutely meshes a recipe to create a wonderful meal I make sure to show my appreciation by eating a second serving.
2. Something that I really enjoy doing during my free time is to workout. One of my number one activities is dancing! I have recently taken up belly dancing and let me tell you, this is one conditioning which is full of rip and rhythm! My grateful thanks goes to my teacher.
3. I’m a significant hugger. I love giving and getting hugs. Yes, a hug is a great form of affection.
4. I enjoy waking up and going to school at the age of 35. Learning Swedish is the only goal right now. Not only do I get to learn something new every day, I also get to know other people from around the globe. One is never too old for knowledge.
5. I’m afraid of heights. I came to realise that when I decided to take the extreme rides by the horns in Stockholm. I was so intrigued by the rides that I found myself plunging headlong Into trying to do the impossible. Will I dare to try again? You bet I would!!
6. I have a brother who is unable to stomach the act of giving and receiving kisses. He goes into hyperventilation at the mere thought of it.
7. I love my little collection of owls. Why am I so fond of these predatory birds? I find them breathtakingly majestic!
8. There’s nothing more enchanting like entering a thrift shop! I lose myself utterly in all its delights and hidden treasures. It’s one of my number one stopovers every week 😊
9. I dote on quotes from Jane Eyre. There’s always a powerful message behind them. Charlotte Bronte was just too spirited a woman to ever grace the world of literature.
10. There’s nothing more wonderful and flawless an emotion than love. Just open yourself, your heart and your soul and let love in. I did .
This is just a tiny bit of detail about me. Would love to get some feedback and some random facts about you too!! Hugs!!
I have always loved Winnie the Pooh and his friends and I know that I always will… well into my old age. He’s the sweetest and the silliest old bear one could ever fall in love with. He never seizes to amaze me with his limitless love and devotion to his friends. Pooh bear this is for you. Thank you for being a part of my childhood.
It was time for my once a year routine check up. The one thing I fear the most (apart from cockroaches) is a blood drawing needle! As I waited for my turn I couldn’t help but think about my blog. I realized that I’ve still not uploaded a profile picture of myself and neither have I taken time to work on my writing. I certainly didn’t want the blog to be a botched up attempt at starting something for the sake of starting something!! Truth be told I was wondering as to who could or would take the time to read my blog when they’ve got their own blogs. But then I said to myself ”Fathima, as long as their is still a reading public out there, your blog might… just might be able to inspire someone and put a smile upon that someone’s face.
Well, why not I tell you a little bit more about me? As you all know, I am Fathima. I come from Sri Lanka, presently living in Sweden with my husband and my daughter and our two guinea pigs, Percy and Midnight. I am so working hard on the Swedish language in school and I shall endeavor till I get to University! Yes!! I firmly believe that in order to be successful in whatever you do one has to work around the moon and sleep around the sun and sometimes you gotta work around both. With that being said, I am off to an old-fashioned romantic movie adventure with my husband.
